Chargeblast vs Real ID ‑ ID verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeblast and Real ID ‑ ID verification both aim to reduce chargebacks for Shopify merchants, but they approach the problem from different angles. Chargeblast focuses on comprehensive chargeback *management*, aiming to prevent disputes, automate workflows, and recover revenue. It positions itself as a fintech company with a broader suite of solutions across multiple payment service providers (PSPs). Real ID ‑ ID verification, on the other hand, zeroes in on *identity verification* as the primary chargeback prevention method. It emphasizes AI-powered ID checks, automation, and compliance for age-restricted goods. The choice between the two depends largely on the merchant's risk profile and desired level of control.

Our Verdict
For merchants dealing with a high volume of transactions across various payment platforms and experiencing complex chargeback issues, Chargeblast likely offers a more comprehensive solution. Its focus on automated workflows and representment strategies can be invaluable in recovering revenue. However, for businesses primarily concerned with verifying customer identity, especially those selling age-restricted items or facing chargebacks due to fraud or identity theft, Real ID ‑ ID verification provides a targeted and potentially more cost-effective solution. The higher rating and more reviews suggest a higher level of user satisfaction, although the smaller sample size for Chargeblast should be considered.
