Chargeup Extra Fee vs Singleton | Verify Customersfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeup Extra Fee and Singleton | Verify Customers are Shopify apps that address vastly different needs, despite both being categorized under "Pricing." Chargeup Extra Fee focuses on increasing revenue and offering customers more options through customizable fees at checkout. Its strength lies in its potential to boost revenue by offering services like shipping protection and gift wrapping. It seems geared toward merchants who want to provide more customer choices and potentially increase profit margins through transparently added fees. The primary audience would be general e-commerce stores. Singleton | Verify Customers, on the other hand, is concerned with controlling customer access and validating registered users. It prioritizes security and exclusivity, catering to merchants who need to restrict access to prices and products based on customer approval. The key difference between the apps lies in their functionality: Chargeup Extra Fee manages fees, while Singleton | Verify Customers manages customer access. Chargeup Extra Fee promises easy integration and a user-friendly dashboard, suggesting a focus on accessibility and ease of use. Conversely, Singleton | Verify Customers offers features like custom registration forms and automated admin notifications, indicating a more involved setup and a higher level of control over customer data and store visibility. Our Verdict
For general e-commerce stores looking to enhance their customer offerings and potentially increase revenue by adding optional fees for services like shipping insurance or gift wrapping, Chargeup Extra Fee *could* be considered. However, its complete lack of reviews is a major red flag and warrants extreme caution. The app's core idea is solid, but the absence of social proof is concerning. Singleton | Verify Customers is specifically designed for merchants requiring strict control over who accesses their store's content and pricing. Businesses operating under a wholesale model, membership-based businesses, or those selling sensitive products benefit greatly from the customer verification and access restriction features.
Given the available data, Singleton | Verify Customers is the clear recommendation for merchants needing customer control. Its established positive reputation (5/5 rating with 78 reviews) provides a solid level of confidence that is completely lacking from Chargeup Extra Fee. While Chargeup Extra Fee addresses a different need, the lack of any reviews makes it virtually impossible to recommend without independent verification of its functionality and reliability.
