CHARGIFY Extra Fee vs VariPrice ‑ POS Custom Pricingfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, CHARGIFY Extra Fee and VariPrice ‑ POS Custom Pricing cater to distinctly different needs within the Shopify ecosystem, despite both being categorized under 'Pricing.' CHARGIFY focuses on enabling merchants to apply surcharges to customer orders, aiming to manage store expenses and potentially boost the Average Order Value (AVO). It allows for fixed or percentage-based fees, and emphasizes transparency by displaying these charges to customers. Its target audience is likely merchants looking to directly recoup costs or apply service fees to their online orders. VariPrice, conversely, targets merchants with both an online store and physical POS locations. Its core strength lies in allowing different product prices for each sales channel – the online store and each individual POS location. This eliminates the need for complex workarounds such as product duplication. The app specifically caters to businesses needing to adjust prices based on location-specific factors. However, VariPrice does require an internet connection and is incompatible with apps using the Cart Transformer function, which could limit its applicability for some merchants.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to apply surcharges to online orders to offset expenses or account for service fees, CHARGIFY Extra Fee appears to be the more suitable option. Its focus on surcharge management and transparent display to customers aligns with this need. The slightly lower rating suggests potential areas for improvement, but the larger review count offers more feedback.
However, if a business operates both an online store and physical POS locations, and requires the flexibility to set different prices based on location or sales channel, VariPrice ‑ POS Custom Pricing is the clear winner. Its dedicated features for managing custom prices across various POS locations and its CSV import/export functionality provide valuable tools for complex pricing strategies. While it has fewer reviews, the perfect rating indicates a strong initial user experience for its intended purpose. The internet dependency and Cart Transformer incompatibility should be carefully considered before adoption.
Common Questions
Can I use both CHARGIFY Extra Fee and VariPrice?
Potentially, but their core functions are distinct. CHARGIFY adds surcharges to online orders, while VariPrice sets different prices for online versus POS. There's no inherent conflict, but ensure they don't interfere with other critical apps, especially considering VariPrice's Cart Transformer incompatibility.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Without direct usage data, it's difficult to definitively say. CHARGIFY likely has a simpler setup due to its focus on surcharge configuration. VariPrice, while also offering a centralized dashboard, may require more initial effort to set up prices for multiple POS locations, although the CSV import/export should speed up bulk edits.
Does CHARGIFY Extra Fee allow me to apply surcharges only to specific products?
The provided description does not mention product-specific surcharges. It focuses on applying surcharges based on the order amount and other custom rules, not individual products.
What if I want to offer discounts instead of surcharges?
CHARGIFY is not designed for discounts. You'd need a dedicated discount app for that purpose. VariPrice also focuses on setting different *prices*, not directly managing discounts.
How does VariPrice handle inventory across online and POS locations?
The description emphasizes that VariPrice avoids duplicating products, thus mitigating inventory issues. However, it doesn't explicitly detail inventory management capabilities beyond that. Separate inventory management apps might be required for robust stock control.
