Checkmate ‑ checkout validator vs EZ Checkout Controller | Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
Checkmate ‑ checkout validator and EZ Checkout Controller | Rules both aim to provide Shopify merchants with greater control over their checkout process. Checkmate positions itself as a no-code solution for setting cart and checkout validation rules, focusing on preventing fraudulent orders and enforcing store policies related to discounts and quantities. EZ Checkout Controller, on the other hand, emphasizes a broader range of checkout rules, including order limits, payment and shipping method control, customer blocking, and fraud protection. EZ Checkout Controller targets merchants looking for comprehensive checkout customization, while Checkmate appears to focus on merchants primarily concerned with fraud prevention and basic order validation. Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with setting basic order validation rules and protecting against fraudulent orders with an emphasis on simplicity and a plug-and-play experience, Checkmate *could* be an option, assuming future updates and positive user feedback emerge. However, its current lack of reviews raises concerns. For merchants requiring a more comprehensive checkout solution, offering granular control over payment and shipping methods, customer blocking, and IP/country blocking, EZ Checkout Controller | Rules is the clear choice, supported by a perfect rating and existing user reviews.
Given the available information, especially the stark contrast in user ratings and reviews, EZ Checkout Controller | Rules appears to be the more reliable and feature-rich option for most Shopify merchants in 2026 seeking checkout customization. Checkmate needs to demonstrate its value and reliability to be a competitive option.
