Checkout Plus vs Shopify Checkout Blocksfor Shopify (2026)
Checkout Plus and Shopify Checkout Blocks both aim to enhance the Shopify checkout experience, but they cater to different merchant segments and offer distinct feature sets. Checkout Plus focuses on broader checkout customization, appealing to a wider range of merchants with features like upsells, social proof elements (reviews, UGC, trust badges), gift messages, and conditional payment/shipping method customization. Its strength lies in providing a comprehensive suite of tools for optimizing the entire checkout flow, including the thank you and order status pages, to increase AOV and build customer trust. Shopify Checkout Blocks, on the other hand, is exclusively designed for Shopify Plus merchants. It provides more advanced customization capabilities for the order status and thank you pages using content blocks. The app also offers powerful functionalities like creating custom order/shipping discounts, validating address formats, setting order value limits, and manipulating delivery/payment method visibility – all features only available to Shopify Plus subscribers. Therefore, its core strength revolves around providing complex checkout control for high-volume, enterprise-level merchants leveraging the advanced capabilities of Shopify Plus. The key difference lies in accessibility and feature breadth. Checkout Plus democratizes checkout customization for a wider audience, while Shopify Checkout Blocks targets the niche yet powerful Shopify Plus market with more granular, advanced controls.

Our Verdict
For general Shopify merchants seeking to boost AOV, improve customer trust, and add personalized elements to their checkout experience, Checkout Plus is the clear choice. Its accessible pricing and comprehensive features make it a valuable tool for most online stores. However, merchants on Shopify Plus needing precise control over discounts, shipping, and payment methods based on complex rules, and who require granular customization of the thank you and order status pages, should opt for Shopify Checkout Blocks. Its Shopify Plus exclusivity unlocks powerful, advanced functionalities not available to regular Shopify users.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your Shopify plan. If you're not on Shopify Plus, Shopify Checkout Blocks isn't an option. If you are on Plus, then consider if you need the advanced customization options only it provides.
