CheckPop ‑ Terms & Conditions vs EG Auto Add to Cart Free Giftfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, both CheckPop ‑ Terms & Conditions and EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift are cart customization apps with perfect 5/5 ratings, but they serve vastly different purposes and target audiences. CheckPop focuses on legal compliance and risk mitigation by enabling merchants to display and track customer acceptance of terms and conditions, refund policies, etc., primarily aiming to reduce chargebacks. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift, on the other hand, is a marketing and sales tool designed to increase average order value and customer engagement through free gift promotions, BOGO offers, and other cart-based upsells. Their shared Shopify category of 'Cart customization' is almost misleading given how disparate their core functionalities are. One safeguards against legal issues; the other boosts sales.

Our Verdict
Choosing between CheckPop and EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift depends entirely on your business needs. If your priority is protecting your business from potential legal issues and reducing chargebacks by ensuring customers agree to your terms, CheckPop is the obvious choice. The low number of reviews is concerning but the features are straightforward. Conversely, if you are focused on driving sales, increasing average order value, and experimenting with promotional offers, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is the better option. The high number of reviews suggests a reliable and effective app for its intended purpose. It's unlikely that a merchant would need both simultaneously; their functions are mutually exclusive.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
CheckPop likely has a simpler setup due to its limited functionality. The description explicitly states 'Just install app and configure it in theme customization page. No theme code is modified by the app.' EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift, while claiming easy setup, requires defining rules for free gifts, which is inherently more complex.
Which app is more likely to impact my store's sales?
EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is specifically designed to increase sales through promotions. CheckPop's impact on sales is indirect, stemming from potentially preventing chargebacks which would otherwise reduce revenue.
Which app addresses a more critical business need?
This depends on the merchant's stage and risk tolerance. For a new business, legal compliance via CheckPop might be more crucial. For a mature business focused on scaling, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift might offer a quicker path to growth.
Are there any potential downsides to using either app?
The primary downside of CheckPop is the extremely low number of reviews. This makes it difficult to assess its long-term reliability. The potential downside of EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is that overly aggressive promotional offers could devalue your brand or annoy customers.
If I had to choose only one, which app offers broader utility?
Neither app offers particularly broad utility. They solve distinct problems. However, most e-commerce businesses, at some point, will need to consider legal compliance, making CheckPop's function more universally relevant in the long run. That does *not* make it universally *better*.
