Clonely ‑ Copy Products vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
Clonely ‑ Copy Products and Selling Point are both Shopify apps listed under the "Selling online" and "Store data importer" categories, but they address fundamentally different needs. Clonely focuses on product data replication, enabling merchants to quickly populate their store with products from other Shopify stores (either their own or those they have permission to use listings from, like dropshipped items). It caters to merchants who need to rapidly expand their product catalog or create test environments. In contrast, Selling Point specializes in migrating gift card and store credit data from various POS systems or websites into Shopify. It targets merchants switching platforms or consolidating their business to Shopify, providing a means to transfer their outstanding liabilities to customers.

Our Verdict
The choice between Clonely ‑ Copy Products and Selling Point depends entirely on the merchant's specific requirements. Clonely is ideal for merchants looking to quickly populate their stores with products, particularly if they are dropshippers or managing multiple stores. Its value proposition is centered around saving time on product listing. Selling Point, however, addresses the critical need to seamlessly migrate gift card and store credit balances when transitioning to Shopify. It's a must-have for merchants who don't want to leave existing customer balances behind when switching platforms. The limited number of reviews for Clonely should be considered; the higher number of reviews for Selling Point provides more confidence in its reliability.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps claim simplicity, but without testing, it's hard to definitively say. Clonely's promise of cloning an entire store suggests a high level of automation. Selling Point's emphasis on migrating from 'any POS system or website' implies the process may require some user input to map fields correctly.
Which app is more likely to require technical expertise?
Selling Point *might* require more technical expertise depending on the format of the gift card data from the source system. Some data massaging may be needed to ensure a successful import. Clonely seems straightforward, replicating existing Shopify data, reducing potential complexity.
If I'm a new Shopify store with no existing data, which app is helpful?
Clonely would be helpful in this scenario if you are selling products that exist on other Shopify stores you have permission to copy. Selling Point would not be useful until you have existing gift card data to migrate.
Does either app offer support for importing customer data?
Neither app description explicitly mentions customer data import beyond gift card balances/store credits for Selling Point. Clonely focuses solely on product data.
Which app offers a clearer value proposition for cost savings?
Selling Point directly addresses the cost of manual migration or developer fees. Clonely implies cost savings by reducing time spent on product listing, but the magnitude of savings isn't as explicit.
