Closeby ‑ Store Locator vs OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POSfor Shopify (2026)
Closeby ‑ Store Locator and OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS are both Shopify apps in the "Selling in person" category, but they address entirely different needs. Closeby focuses on driving online traffic to physical store locations through a customizable and user-friendly store locator. It emphasizes design, ease of use, and integration with Google tools. OpenFiskal, on the other hand, is a highly specialized app for Shopify POS merchants in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region) that ensures compliance with local fiscal regulations like KassenSichV and RKSV. OpenFiskal prioritizes legal compliance and accurate bookkeeping, providing features for secure transaction signing, Z-report generation, and data export for audits. While both apps aim to enhance the in-person selling experience, Closeby focuses on customer acquisition and brand consistency, while OpenFiskal is concerned with regulatory adherence and financial accountability within the DACH market. The reviews suggest that while OpenFiskal has a higher rating, the smaller review count for Closeby (17) compared to OpenFiskal (37) indicates that more merchants have found OpenFiskal useful, albeit within a very specific regulatory context.
