CN Before & After vs ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reelsfor Shopify (2026)
CN Before & After and ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reels, while both falling under the 'Images and Media' category on Shopify, cater to vastly different needs and business models. CN Before & After focuses on direct image comparison, allowing merchants to visually showcase product transformations or highlight key features through interactive sliders. Its strength lies in its simplicity and customizable image comparison experience. It targets merchants looking to provide a clear and concise visual representation of product improvements or feature differences. ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reels, in contrast, centers on leveraging short-form video content from platforms like TikTok and Instagram to drive sales. It allows merchants to import videos and create shoppable experiences, essentially turning product pages into dynamic showcases of user-generated content and promotional material. Its strength lies in its integration with popular social media platforms and its focus on increasing engagement and conversions through video. It targets merchants who are active on social media and looking to use video marketing to improve their bottom line. The key differentiator is the media type and purpose: static image comparison versus shoppable video integration. Our Verdict
Choosing between CN Before & After and ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reels hinges entirely on your business goals and content strategy. If your primary focus is to highlight tangible product improvements or differences through static images, CN Before & After is the more appropriate choice. It's best suited for products with visible transformations or distinct features. However, due to the extremely low review count, it's wise to be cautious and thoroughly test the app yourself.
If you're actively creating or curating short-form video content on platforms like TikTok or Instagram and want to leverage that content to drive sales, ReelUp‑Shoppable Videos+ Reels is the better option. Its focus on shoppable videos and user-generated content makes it ideal for merchants looking to capitalize on the popularity of video marketing and social commerce. ReelUp has the benefit of having a statistically meaningful number of reviews, even though one cannot assume that the rating is valid or unbiased.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
CN Before & After is likely easier to set up due to its simpler functionality (image uploads and slider customization). ReelUp, involving video imports from external sources, will have a steeper learning curve even though ReelUp is described as simple.
Which app is better for showcasing clothing items?
ReelUp would be beneficial for showcasing how the clothing looks on different body types via UGC videos and Reels. CN Before & After would be less relevant, unless you're showcasing a 'before' and 'after' of a garment being cleaned, altered, or restored.
Can I use both apps on my Shopify store?
Yes, as long as their functionalities do not conflict. One app enhances static images while the other enhances video content. This is up to the merchant's discretion on what content they want to use
Which app would be better for a furniture store?
Both could be used, but in different ways. CN Before & After could showcase furniture restoration projects or the difference between materials. ReelUp could showcase room layouts using different furniture sets and shoppable videos of those sets, using ReelUp to show furniture in real-life settings.
Does having ReelUp increase my storefront's security risk?
Importing media from third party services like TikTok or Instagram could have theoretical risks of malicious content. However, this is likely mitigated by the controls implemented by Shopify and ReelUp. As with all Shopify apps, assess the developer's reputation and permissions requested.
