COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery vs COD Toolkit by Breezefor Shopify (2026)
COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery and COD Toolkit by Breeze both address the challenges of Cash on Delivery (COD) for Shopify merchants in 2026. However, they approach the problem from different angles. COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery focuses on reducing Return to Origin (RTO) through order verification (OTP, IVR), fraud filters, and the option to charge COD fees. Its core value proposition is minimizing losses due to bogus orders. COD Toolkit by Breeze, on the other hand, prioritizes flexible COD management and customization. It allows merchants to block COD based on rules like price or location, and customize the payment option's name for branding, enabling greater control over COD availability. While both aim to improve the COD experience, they cater to distinct needs. One is about reducing fraud and losses, and the other is about control and branding. Both apps share the 'Cash on delivery (COD)' category on Shopify, suggesting overlap in functionality. However, the descriptions highlight their unique strengths. COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery’s focus on OTP verification and fraud analysis suggests it is aimed at merchants experiencing significant issues with RTO and fraud. COD Toolkit by Breeze seems geared towards merchants who want granular control over who can use COD and how it’s presented to customers, providing a more tailored customer experience. Both apps have relatively few reviews, but COD Toolkit by Breeze does boast a perfect 5/5 rating compared to COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery's 4.7/5, which may be related to its focus on flexible rules.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with high rates of RTO due to fraudulent orders, COD: Advanced Cash on Delivery is the better choice. Its verification features (OTP, IVR) and fraud filters directly address this problem. The option to charge a COD fee further discourages frivolous orders. On the other hand, COD Toolkit by Breeze is ideal for merchants who want to strategically manage COD availability. This is helpful for merchants who want to avoid COD for high-value orders, or specific regions, and who value the ability to customize the branding of the payment option. If a merchant values complete control, COD Toolkit by Breeze is a good match.
