COD King‑COD Fees & OTP Verify vs Progus COD (Cash on Delivery)for Shopify (2026)
COD King and Progus COD both aim to optimize Cash on Delivery (COD) for Shopify merchants, but they adopt different strategies. COD King positions itself as a solution to reduce Return to Origin (RTO) costs and fake orders by employing OTP verification and partial payments. It targets merchants struggling with unreliable COD orders and focuses on securing commitment from buyers. Progus COD, on the other hand, prioritizes increasing COD conversions by streamlining the ordering process with its 1-Click Order Form and providing granular control over COD availability based on various parameters. The core difference lies in their approach: COD King is about risk mitigation and pre-emptive security, while Progus COD focuses on conversion optimization and flexibility in COD settings. COD King is well-established, having a considerable number of user reviews, primarily catering to merchants in India and Egypt. Progus COD, with its simpler and potentially faster checkout process, targets merchants needing a user-friendly approach to COD orders that minimizes checkout friction. The low number of reviews indicate that it is still relatively new to the app market.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with a high volume of fake COD orders and costly returns, particularly in India and Egypt, COD King offers a robust solution with its OTP verification and partial payment options. The large number of positive reviews suggests it's a reliable app with a proven track record. If speed and frictionless ordering are paramount, and the merchant wants to allow COD for certain customers based on specific rules, Progus COD's 1-Click Order Form and granular visibility controls are more suitable. However, merchants should be mindful of the very small number of reviews before implementation.
Ultimately, the choice depends on the merchant's specific priorities. If RTO is the biggest pain point, COD King is the better choice. If faster order processing and more customizable COD rules are the main goal, Progus COD could be a valuable tool. However, Progus COD's lack of a significant number of reviews makes its real-world effectiveness uncertain. Consider conducting thorough testing for either app before a full-scale launch.
