COD King‑COD Fees & OTP Verify vs SMART Checkout Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
COD King focuses on reducing losses associated with Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, primarily through OTP verification, upfront/partial payments, and COD fees. Its target audience is merchants, especially in India and Egypt, who struggle with high rates of Return to Origin (RTO) and Return to Sender (RTS) due to fake or unserious COD orders. It aims to convert COD orders to prepaid and increase profitability by filtering out unserious buyers. SMART Checkout Rules, on the other hand, takes a broader approach to checkout customization, allowing merchants to control payment methods, shipping options, and discounts based on a wide range of conditions, like customer tags, country, cart value, and products. It caters to merchants seeking to optimize the entire checkout experience, particularly those with complex checkout requirements such as B2B businesses or international sales, and who want to customize without code. The primary difference lies in the scope of functionality. COD King is highly specialized for COD order management and loss prevention. SMART Checkout Rules offers a more versatile solution to customize the entire checkout process and control payment methods, shipping options, and discounts, allowing for very fine-grained control based on complex conditions. While both apps can influence payment options, COD King emphasizes optimizing COD while SMART Checkout Rules focuses on comprehensive checkout customization for various business scenarios.

Our Verdict
If your main concern is mitigating losses from COD orders and converting them to prepaid, especially if you operate in India or Egypt, COD King is the clear choice. Its features are specifically designed for this purpose, and its high rating with a substantial number of reviews suggests it's effective. However, if you need a more flexible and comprehensive solution to customize various aspects of your checkout process based on a wider range of conditions (customer segments, location, cart value, etc.), SMART Checkout Rules is the better option. It offers a broader set of tools to create a dynamic and optimized checkout experience tailored to your specific business needs, even though it has fewer reviews.
