COD King‑COD Fees & OTP Verify vs Zip On‑Site Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
COD King - COD Fees & OTP Verify and Zip On-Site Messaging are Shopify apps addressing entirely different needs. COD King focuses on reducing losses associated with Cash on Delivery (COD) orders by implementing OTP verification, enabling partial payments, and adding COD fees, targeting merchants primarily in India and Egypt who experience high rates of Return to Origin/Sender (RTO/RTS). In contrast, Zip On-Site Messaging aims to boost sales by displaying installment payment options powered by the Zip payment gateway on product pages, carts, and mini-carts. It's specifically for merchants in the US, Australia, and New Zealand who are already partnered with Zip. The primary difference lies in their goals: COD King seeks to minimize risk and maximize profit margins related to COD, while Zip On-Site Messaging aims to increase conversions by showcasing flexible payment options. COD King boasts a much higher rating (5/5) and a significantly larger number of reviews (560) compared to Zip On-Site Messaging (1.3/5 and 3 reviews), suggesting greater user satisfaction and a more established presence. Furthermore, COD King offers functionalities applicable to a wider merchant base with a focus on countries with strong COD preference, while Zip On-Site Messaging’s utility is limited to Zip merchant partners in specific countries.

Our Verdict
COD King is the clear choice for merchants in India and Egypt struggling with high RTO/RTS rates on COD orders. Its focus on verification and fees is directly aimed at mitigating these losses. The significantly higher rating and review count indicate a more reliable and effective solution.
Zip On-Site Messaging is only suitable for merchants already using the Zip payment gateway and operating in the US, Australia, or New Zealand. If you're a Zip partner and want to prominently display installment options, it might be worth exploring, but the extremely low rating and limited reviews raise serious concerns about its performance and user experience. For most Shopify merchants, COD King addresses a more common and pressing issue.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
COD King likely offers a simpler setup process since it primarily deals with COD options within checkout. Zip On-Site Messaging requires integration of widgets into various site locations and assumes you are an existing Zip merchant partner.
Which app is more likely to increase overall sales?
While COD King aims to secure existing sales by reducing losses, Zip On-Site Messaging directly aims to increase sales by presenting a seemingly more affordable option to customers. Whether Zip can increase sales or not is questionable considering its low rating.
Which app is more reliable based on user reviews?
COD King is significantly more reliable based on user reviews. It has a 5/5 rating from 560 reviews, while Zip On-Site Messaging has a 1.3/5 rating from only 3 reviews. The difference is dramatic.

Does COD King integrate with Zip payment gateway?
No, COD King operates independently of payment gateways. It focuses on managing COD orders, while Zip On-Site Messaging is directly tied to the Zip payment gateway.
