CODEGEN & DELIVERY vs FileJar ‑ Digital Downloadsfor Shopify (2026)
CODEGEN & DELIVERY and FileJar ‑ Digital Downloads both aim to help Shopify merchants sell digital goods, but they approach the problem from different angles and target distinct user segments. CODEGEN & DELIVERY, based on its description (in Japanese), focuses primarily on distributing unique activation codes linked to products via CSV upload. It emphasizes variable code distribution based on order or product and displays these codes on the purchase completion and history pages. However, its lack of reviews and potentially language barrier may be a significant hurdle for many users. FileJar ‑ Digital Downloads, on the other hand, offers a broader solution for selling various digital products beyond just codes, including ebooks, music, and software. FileJar offers secure file delivery through branded emails, download pages, and the thank you page, along with features like download limits and fraud detection. It simplifies the process by allowing merchants to connect uploaded files to existing products and automate the rest of the digital fulfillment process. The app's 5-star rating with 11 reviews suggests a positive user experience and reliability, making it a more compelling option for merchants seeking a comprehensive digital download solution. The ease of use and broader digital product support make FileJar a stronger contender for most merchants.

Our Verdict
FileJar ‑ Digital Downloads is the generally stronger choice for most Shopify merchants looking to sell digital goods. Its broader feature set, positive reviews, and emphasis on security and ease of use make it a reliable and versatile solution. The ability to sell various digital products and manage fulfillment through multiple channels provides greater flexibility. CODEGEN & DELIVERY might be suitable for merchants *exclusively* focused on selling digital products requiring activation codes and comfortable working with CSV files, potentially in Japanese, but the lack of reviews and language barrier present significant drawbacks.
Ultimately, the choice depends on specific needs. If a merchant *only* needs to distribute activation codes and is fluent in Japanese and confident in setting up CSV files, CODEGEN & DELIVERY could be an option. However, for most merchants seeking a comprehensive and user-friendly digital product solution, FileJar is the clear winner.
