CODEGEN & DELIVERY vs LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Productsfor Shopify (2026)
CODEGEN & DELIVERY and LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Products both fall under the 'Digital goods and services - Other' category on the Shopify app store, but their approaches to digital product delivery are quite distinct. CODEGEN & DELIVERY, based on its description, focuses on delivering unique activation codes to buyers for digital content, making it suitable for merchants selling software licenses, game keys, or other products requiring unique codes. It appears to handle the distribution of these codes via CSV uploads linked to specific products or orders. LinkIT, on the other hand, is designed for selling digital products hosted on various platforms like Google Drive, YouTube, and Dropbox, providing a simpler method for delivering digital files, videos, or access to online communities. The primary difference lies in the type of digital product they cater to and the delivery mechanism. CODEGEN & DELIVERY is tailored for scenarios where a unique code is required per purchase, while LinkIT serves merchants who sell downloadable files or access to existing online resources. LinkIT also offers some brand customization options through email tailoring. A significant factor is the lack of reviews and a 0/5 rating for CODEGEN & DELIVERY, which raises concerns compared to LinkIT's perfect 5/5 rating, although based on a single review.

Our Verdict
For merchants selling software licenses, game keys, or any digital product requiring unique activation codes, CODEGEN & DELIVERY could be a solution if the merchant is willing to invest time in understanding its processes and potentially troubleshooting due to the lack of reviews. However, the absence of reviews and a 0/5 rating suggests caution is warranted. LinkIT ‑ Sell Digital Products appears to be the better choice for those who sell digital files, courses, videos, or access to private communities and prefer a simple, link-based delivery system with some branding customization options, if the merchant is confident with utilizing existing hosting platforms and doesn't require unique code generation.
Given the current data (or lack thereof) the single 5-star review makes LinkIT the less risky choice for most merchants seeking to sell digital products. CODEGEN & DELIVERY's unique activation code functionality is valuable, but the merchant should seek further user feedback and conduct thorough testing before committing to the app for mission-critical processes.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
LinkIT appears easier to set up, as it only requires copying and pasting links to existing digital content. CODEGEN & DELIVERY requires CSV uploads, which may involve more initial work.
Which app is better for selling software licenses?
CODEGEN & DELIVERY is explicitly designed for distributing activation codes, making it the better option for selling software licenses, assuming the codes can be externally generated.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
While technically possible, it's unlikely to be necessary. Choose the app that best matches the type of digital products you sell and their delivery requirements.
Which app offers more customization?
LinkIT offers some customization through email branding, whereas CODEGEN & DELIVERY appears to have more focus on conditional rule sets of when the codes are distributed.
Is my digital content secure with these apps?
LinkIT relies on the security of the hosting platform you choose (Google Drive, YouTube, etc.). CODEGEN & DELIVERY relies on how you securely generate and manage your activation codes prior to upload. Consider the security implications of both approaches.
