CodeUp ‑ Add Custom Code vs Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builderfor Shopify (2026)
CodeUp ‑ Add Custom Code and Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder serve distinctly different purposes for Shopify merchants. CodeUp targets merchants who need to inject custom code (CSS, JavaScript, and tracking scripts) into their store's theme for advanced customization or integration with third-party services. Its strength lies in its simplicity and ease of use for adding code snippets. Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder, on the other hand, is designed for merchants preparing to launch a new store or temporarily undergoing maintenance. It allows them to create engaging 'coming soon' or 'under construction' pages. The primary difference lies in their functionality. CodeUp focuses on backend code injection, enhancing store functionality and appearance through customization. Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder centers around creating a temporary storefront to capture leads and build anticipation before an actual launch. CodeUp caters to merchants comfortable with code or those needing to integrate specific scripts. Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder serves merchants launching or revamping their store and want to keep customers informed and engaged during the process.

Our Verdict
Choosing between CodeUp ‑ Add Custom Code and Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder depends entirely on your needs. If you need to add custom code snippets for tracking, verification, or appearance tweaks, CodeUp is the clear choice. Its simplicity makes it accessible to users with basic technical skills. However, if you are launching a new store, undergoing maintenance, or rebranding, Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder is the more suitable option. It provides the tools necessary to create an engaging pre-launch experience, collect emails, and build anticipation for your store's opening.
Given the significantly higher number of reviews and perfect rating, Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder may be considered more trustworthy, although CodeUp may just be a newer app. For merchants comfortable editing their store's code, the ability to make deeper customizations with CodeUp might be worth it, despite the lower review count, if the specific features are important.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps claim to be easy to use, but CodeUp's simplicity focuses on code insertion, while Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder offers a visual editor. Preference depends on comfort level with coding vs. design.
Can CodeUp create a coming soon page?
No, CodeUp is for injecting code into existing pages. It can modify an existing page to *look* like a coming soon page, but it lacks the dedicated features of Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder.
Does Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder allow custom code insertion?
The description doesn't explicitly state it allows custom code insertion. It's primarily focused on pre-built templates and customization options within the app's interface.
Which app is better for collecting email addresses?
Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder is specifically designed for email collection, offering integrations with email marketing platforms like MailChimp and Klaviyo. CodeUp does not offer this functionality directly.
If I want to add a Facebook Pixel, which app is better?
CodeUp is designed for adding tracking scripts like the Facebook Pixel. Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder is not designed for this, though it might be possible depending on the app's WYSIWYG editor allowing code insertion. CodeUp is the safer bet for that specific task.
