Codify COD vs PayRules: Hide Payment Methodsfor Shopify (2026)
Codify COD and PayRules: Hide Payment Methods both address Cash on Delivery (COD) management on Shopify, but they take different approaches. Codify COD focuses on reducing Return to Origin (RTO) losses by verifying COD orders via OTP and offering granular control over COD availability based on product, collection, zip code, and order value. This app aims to directly mitigate fake orders and associated costs. PayRules, on the other hand, appears from its name and categories to be broader, focusing on hiding payment methods based on various rules, which *might* indirectly impact COD management. While both apps are relevant to merchants using COD, Codify COD provides specific features for COD order verification and control. PayRules' general purpose of payment method management indicates it may have broader use cases that may or may not include granular control over COD settings or dedicated OTP features. The low review count of Codify COD despite a perfect rating suggests it's a newer app or targets a niche market, while PayRules' higher review count indicates wider adoption and potentially broader applicability.

Our Verdict
For merchants specifically struggling with fake COD orders and high RTO rates, Codify COD is the clearer choice due to its OTP verification and granular control over COD availability. Its features are explicitly designed to combat these issues. However, its smaller number of reviews may warrant closer scrutiny of the support and ongoing development.
If a merchant needs a more general solution for managing payment method visibility and has less focus on COD-specific RTO reduction, PayRules: Hide Payment Methods might be a better fit, offering more control on a broader scale. The higher review count suggests a more established and potentially robust app.
