Cohley: Photo, Video & Reviews vs Metafields Gurufor Shopify (2026)
Cohley: Photo, Video & Reviews and Metafields Guru, while both listed under the 'Content' category on Shopify, serve drastically different purposes. Cohley aims to help merchants source user-generated content (UGC), photos, videos, and reviews by connecting them with a marketplace of creators. Its strength lies in automating the process of product sampling to creators and receiving diverse content within a few weeks, saving merchants time and effort in content creation. In contrast, Metafields Guru focuses on enhancing a storefront's functionality and data management through metafields. It provides tools for creating, managing, and displaying custom data like specifications, downloadable files, and related products, enabling merchants to create a more tailored customer experience. The core distinction lies in their focus: Cohley is about *generating* content through external creators, while Metafields Guru is about *managing* and *displaying* data within a store to enrich content and functionality. Cohley targets merchants who struggle with content creation or need a diverse range of assets for marketing and social media. Metafields Guru, on the other hand, serves merchants looking to customize their storefront beyond the standard Shopify options and manage complex product data. Given the significant difference in user ratings and review counts, Metafields Guru appears to have a stronger market presence and potentially a more established track record of positive user experiences.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with generating marketing content and securing user-generated content (UGC) easily, Cohley *could* be a viable option, assuming the zero ratings/reviews issue is resolved and the app proves reliable. However, the complete lack of reviews raises concerns. On the other hand, for merchants prioritizing advanced customization of their Shopify store and requiring robust data management capabilities, Metafields Guru is the clear winner. Its high rating and significant number of positive reviews suggest a well-regarded and reliable solution.
It's difficult to recommend Cohley without any user feedback, regardless of its potential benefits. Metafields Guru is the safer and more proven choice for merchants seeking to enhance their storefront functionality and data management.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Based on descriptions, Cohley seems more straightforward due to its focus on workflow automation for content generation. Metafields Guru, however, likely has a steeper learning curve due to the technical nature of metafield management.
Which app is better for SEO?
Metafields Guru can indirectly improve SEO by allowing merchants to add more descriptive data to products, which can be indexed by search engines. Cohley primarily focuses on visual content, which has less direct impact on SEO.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, theoretically. You could use Cohley to generate product reviews that are then stored and managed using Metafields Guru. However, they address fundamentally different needs, so combined usage depends on your specific strategy.
What are the risks of using Cohley without any reviews?
Without reviews, it's impossible to assess the app's reliability, effectiveness, or customer support quality. You risk encountering bugs, poor integration with Shopify, or a lack of support if issues arise.
Which app offers a free trial?
The provided data doesn't indicate whether either app offers a free trial. You would need to check the app listings on the Shopify App Store to confirm.
