Collection Sort & Category |KX vs Smart Collection Profor Shopify (2026)
Collection Sort & Category |KX (Kimonix) and Smart Collection Pro both aim to enhance Shopify merchants' ability to manage and display products through collections, but they target different needs and offer distinct approaches. Kimonix focuses on AI-powered automation for merchandising, particularly collection sorting and product recommendations, emphasizing a no-code experience for fashion brands with large catalogs. Smart Collection Pro, on the other hand, prioritizes flexibility and control over collection creation through unlimited conditions and sub-collection nesting, simplifying store organization and navigation for merchants seeking granular control over their product groupings. The primary difference lies in their core functionalities. Kimonix leverages AI to automatically sort and recommend products based on various factors, aiming to optimize inventory and increase conversions with minimal manual intervention. Smart Collection Pro empowers merchants to create highly specific and intricate collection rules, automating the product assignment process but requiring more manual configuration of those rules. This contrast extends to their target audience, with Kimonix explicitly built for fashion brands with large catalogs, while Smart Collection Pro seems to be more broadly applicable to any Shopify merchant needing advanced collection management capabilities. While both apps boast a 5/5 rating, the significant disparity in the number of reviews (178 vs. 2) suggests that Kimonix has a more established user base and potentially more proven reliability. Therefore, merchants should carefully consider their specific requirements and technical expertise when choosing between the two.

Our Verdict
For fashion brands, especially those with large catalogs, Collection Sort & Category |KX (Kimonix) appears to be the superior choice due to its AI-driven automation and focus on merchandising optimization. Its no-code approach also makes it accessible to users without extensive technical expertise. The higher number of reviews suggests a more robust and well-tested solution.
However, if a merchant requires absolute control over their collection logic and needs to create complex, nested sub-collections, Smart Collection Pro's unlimited condition rules may be more appealing. This is particularly true if they are willing to invest the time in configuring those rules. While Smart Collection Pro offers powerful features, the very low review count suggests a newer app with less community support and proven track record. Weigh the feature benefits against the risk.
