Collections Bulk Add ‑ MassCat vs Metafields Gurufor Shopify (2026)
Collections Bulk Add - MassCat and Metafields Guru, while both listed under the 'Bulk Editor' category on Shopify, address very different needs for merchants. MassCat focuses on simplifying product categorization and collection management, particularly for manual and smart collections. It streamlines the process of adding or removing products from collections using lists, filters, and rules, eliminating the need for CSV files. Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with streamlining product categorization and creating dynamic collections based on specific product attributes (stock, price, creation date), Collections Bulk Add - MassCat is the more suitable choice. Its focus on simplifying collection management, especially the creation of smart collections without needing CSV files, provides a significant advantage.
However, if the goal is to enrich product information with custom data, manage that data in bulk, and display it on the storefront to create a more personalized experience, then Metafields Guru is the better option. While it does not directly manage collections, it allows merchants to extend Shopify's core functionality, which can indirectly improve merchandising and customer engagement. The higher review count for Metafields Guru also suggests greater adoption and a more established user base, indicating potentially broader community support and more robust functionality.
