COLY ‑ Additional Order Form vs SA Variants: Combined Listingsfor Shopify (2026)
COLY ‑ Additional Order Form and SA Variants: Combined Listings both cater to Shopify merchants dealing with custom products and product variants. However, they tackle different aspects of this challenge. COLY focuses on pre-checkout customization by enabling merchants to collect detailed product specifications and personalization requests via custom order forms directly on the product page. SA Variants: Combined Listings, on the other hand, is positioned towards managing existing variants and possibly creating a better shopping experience around them (though limited information is provided about the app). COLY's strength lies in its robust form-building capabilities, offering a range of field types and display conditions to gather precise customer requirements before the order is placed. This makes it ideal for merchants selling highly customizable products where specific input is crucial. SA Variants: Combined Listings's strength resides in its popularity, given the significantly higher number of reviews, suggesting greater adoption and presumably addressing a key need related to product variants, even if the exact problem solved is unknown from the available data. The target audience for COLY is likely merchants with intricate customization needs, while the target audience for SA Variants is less clear based solely on the names and categories.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing the capture of detailed customization information *before* checkout, COLY ‑ Additional Order Form appears to be the more suitable choice. Its focus on building custom forms with various field types allows for precise data collection, potentially reducing post-order inquiries and errors. The ability to conditionally display fields based on product criteria is a significant advantage.
However, the very low number of reviews for COLY should be noted as a risk factor. SA Variants: Combined Listings, based on its higher review count, suggests a solution that addresses a more commonly encountered problem for Shopify merchants with variants, even if its specific functionality isn't detailed in the provided app information. Without knowing what problem SA Variants solves, it is difficult to recommend it over COLY unless you know you have the specific variant management challenge it addresses.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without usage data, it's difficult to say definitively. COLY requires building a form, which can be complex. SA Variants' setup complexity depends entirely on the complexity of its variant combination process, which is unknown.
Does COLY support image uploads?
The description doesn't explicitly mention image uploads. You'll need to check COLY's documentation or contact their support to confirm.
Can SA Variants create new product variants?
The information provided about SA Variants doesn't say anything about *creating* variants. It may focus on how existing variants are *presented* to the customer. Further research is needed.
If I need to collect custom text engraving details, which app is better?
COLY is designed to collect custom text details. It supports text fields, allowing customers to specify engraving information directly on the product page before adding to cart. SA Variants, based on available information, is less suited for this task.
What are the risks of using an app with only 2 reviews?
Apps with very few reviews may have undiscovered bugs, limited support resources, or be abandoned by the developer. It's essential to exercise caution and thoroughly test the app before relying on it for critical business processes.
