Commission Factory vs Roster: Ambassador Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Commission Factory and Roster: Ambassador Marketing both aim to increase sales through partnerships, but they employ different strategies and target different merchant profiles. Commission Factory focuses on traditional affiliate marketing by connecting merchants with a wide network of digital partners like bloggers, influencers, and price comparison sites. Their value proposition lies in accessing a large, established affiliate network and outsourcing affiliate management. Roster, on the other hand, emphasizes building a dedicated brand ambassador community of passionate fans to drive word-of-mouth marketing. The key differentiator lies in the type of relationship and control the merchant has. Commission Factory offers a broader reach with less direct control over individual promoters, focusing on performance-based commissions within an existing platform. Roster provides tools for cultivating a more intimate and engaged community of brand advocates who may prioritize loyalty and enthusiasm over purely commission-driven performance. Roster also includes tools focused on UGC (user generated content) which Commission Factory does not seem to emphasize. Merchants should carefully consider their desired level of community engagement and the nature of their products when choosing between these apps.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking immediate access to a large network of affiliate partners and a more hands-off approach to affiliate management, Commission Factory might seem like a good choice. However, its complete lack of reviews raises significant concerns. On the other hand, Roster: Ambassador Marketing is better suited for brands that prioritize building a strong community of brand advocates and fostering authentic word-of-mouth marketing.
Given the information available in 2026, and the absence of any positive or negative feedback for Commission Factory, Roster: Ambassador Marketing appears to be the more reliable and potentially effective option for most Shopify merchants. The positive reviews, coupled with its focus on community building, offer a more attractive proposition.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Commission Factory claims to be easy to set up with no experience needed. Roster also streamlines ambassador management, implying user friendliness. Due to the lack of reviews, it is difficult to ascertain which would actually be easier to set up and manage day to day.
Which app is better for a new store?
With no user feedback to evaluate, it's difficult to know which would be better for a new store. New stores may initially lack passionate fans to recruit into the Roster ambassador program, making Commission Factory more attractive, although again, a lack of reviews is concerning. More mature store with established fan base will likely find Roster's approach a better fit.
How are payments handled in each app?
Commission Factory tracks all partner transactions and payments. Roster manages reward fulfillment and payments to ambassadors. The specific payment methods and terms are not detailed, and both apps would likely require configuring payment details within their dashboards.
Which app provides better reporting and analytics?
Commission Factory tracks transactions and performance, but Roster provides more comprehensive reporting, including engagement data and ROI reporting. Therefore, Roster appears to offer more robust analytics.
Is one app cheaper than the other?
Pricing information isn't provided for either app, making it impossible to compare costs directly. Merchants should investigate pricing plans for both apps to determine which aligns best with their budget and expected usage.
