Compose ‑ A/B Testing vs Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 linksfor Shopify (2026)
Compose ‑ A/B Testing and Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 links, while both residing under the 'Site optimization - Other' category on Shopify, cater to vastly different needs. Compose focuses on conversion rate optimization through A/B testing, offering merchants the ability to test various aspects of their store, from themes to product pages, with unlimited variants and audience segmentation. Its positioning emphasizes ease of use and affordability compared to established A/B testing platforms. In contrast, Redirect Hero tackles broken links and improves the customer experience by ensuring users are redirected to valid pages instead of encountering 404 errors. The key difference lies in their core functionality: Compose is for optimizing sales through experimentation, targeting merchants actively seeking to improve conversion rates, while Redirect Hero addresses a fundamental usability issue – broken links – impacting SEO and user experience. While both apps aim to improve the store's performance, they do so from opposite ends. Compose aims to increase sales given existing traffic, whereas Redirect Hero seeks to ensure traffic, once acquired, doesn't bounce due to broken links. The difference in review volume (2 vs 104) suggests Redirect Hero addresses a more commonly felt pain point among Shopify merchants.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing conversion rate optimization and actively seeking to test different website elements, Compose ‑ A/B Testing is the clear choice. Its no-code interface and unlimited experiment capacity make it attractive, particularly for those looking for a more affordable alternative to established A/B testing platforms.
However, for merchants struggling with broken links and wanting to improve user experience and SEO, Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 links is essential. While Compose aims to enhance the performance of an already functional site, Redirect Hero ensures the site is usable to begin with. The significantly higher review count suggests it addresses a more widespread issue and offers a more immediate and impactful solution for many Shopify store owners.
