Conversion Companion vs Shopy Payment Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
Conversion Companion and Shopy Payment Rules both aim to improve checkout conversion rates, but they approach the problem from entirely different angles. Conversion Companion focuses on optimizing the checkout experience through personalized content like upsells, trust badges, and urgency messages, leveraging a broad set of customer behavior signals. It's designed for merchants who want a data-driven approach to checkout optimization, offering A/B testing and reporting features. Shopy Payment Rules, on the other hand, specializes in customizing payment method visibility based on customer type, catering specifically to businesses with distinct B2B and DTC segments, or those needing granular control over payment option display. Conversion Companion's strength lies in its comprehensive approach to personalization, using hundreds of behavior signals to dynamically tailor the checkout experience. The 'Checkout Blocks' feature and A/B testing capabilities make it well-suited for data-driven merchants. Shopy Payment Rules excels in its targeted approach to payment method customization, providing features like renaming and reordering payment methods to match brand tone and optimize the checkout experience for different customer segments. The app's simplicity, focusing on customer type-based rules, makes it easier for merchants to implement specific payment-related strategies. However, Shopy Payment Rules may not be as useful to merchants who only cater to one customer segment.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking comprehensive, data-driven checkout optimization with personalized content and A/B testing, Conversion Companion is the superior choice. Its extensive feature set and focus on understanding shopper behavior offer a more robust solution for increasing overall conversion rates. However, for businesses with distinct B2B and DTC segments, or those needing granular control over payment method visibility based on customer type, Shopy Payment Rules is the more targeted and efficient option. The app's simplicity and focus on payment customization make it ideal for merchants who want to refine their payment options without the complexity of broader checkout personalization.
Ultimately, the best app depends on the specific needs of the merchant. If your priority is broad checkout optimization, Conversion Companion is the stronger choice. If your focus is solely on tailoring payment methods, Shopy Payment Rules will likely provide a more streamlined and effective solution. The low review count of Shopy Payment Rules does warrant caution.
