Our Verdict
For merchants who require a robust, automated solution with verifiable proof of consent and integration with Shopify's privacy API, Cookie Consent by CookieFirst appears to be the stronger choice. The automatic cookie scanning and European datacenter storage provide a level of assurance for compliance. However, for merchants focused on providing a more engaging and less intrusive cookie consent experience for their customers, Ekookie - Consent V2 ready may be a better fit. Its emphasis on 'fun' and 'educational editorials' could lead to higher opt-in rates and a more positive customer perception.
Common Questions
Which app offers better long-term compliance assurance?
Cookie Consent by CookieFirst, with its automatic site scans and European datacenter storage, likely provides better long-term compliance assurance. Ekookie emphasizes user experience, which, while important, doesn't directly address the long-term aspects of compliance to the same extent.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, both apps aim for ease of use. CookieFirst highlights making compliance 'easy' while Ekookie mentions automatically creating and installing the banner. Without user testimonials, it's difficult to definitively say which is easier, but both suggest a straightforward setup process.
Which app provides more detailed cookie information to users?
Ekookie seems to focus more on detailed cookie information through its 'educational editorials.' CookieFirst focuses on informing users about services, suggesting that Ekookie might offer more in-depth explanations.
Which app handles consent storage more securely?
CookieFirst explicitly mentions storing consents safely in European datacenters, implying a focus on data security. Ekookie mentions storing consents but lacks specific details about storage security and location.
Which app is better for a small shop with limited technical expertise?
Both apps are viable options, but Ekookie's emphasis on simplicity and a user-friendly experience might make it slightly more appealing for a small shop with limited technical expertise, as the pre-configured cookies and editorials offer a ready-to-use solution.
