Cotei ‑ Correios PAC e SEDEX vs ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
Cotei ‑ Correios PAC e SEDEX is a shipping rate calculator specifically designed for Brazilian merchants who rely on Correios (Brazil's postal service) for their shipping needs. It focuses on providing accurate shipping rates for SEDEX, PAC, and international shipping options offered by Correios, including variations like Mini Envios and SEDEX 12. Its strength lies in its deep integration with Correios, allowing merchants to use their existing Correios contracts and account for specific dimensions and processing times. The target audience is clearly Brazilian Shopify stores using Correios. ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules, on the other hand, is a more general-purpose shipping rate calculator with advanced rule-based configuration. It supports diverse carrier integrations (Starshipit, Sendle, USPS, etc.) and offers sophisticated features like rate blending and AI-based packaging. ShipX caters to a wider audience, including dropshippers and merchants requiring complex shipping rules based on various factors like cart contents, product dimensions, customer location, and supplier origin. The primary difference between the two apps lies in their scope and target audience. Cotei excels at providing precise Correios shipping calculations with support for specific Brazilian shipping methods and regulations. ShipX focuses on creating complex shipping rules for a variety of carriers and shipping scenarios. While Cotei's focus might limit its appeal outside of Brazil, ShipX's flexibility could be overwhelming for merchants who only need basic Correios shipping calculations. ShipX also requires Shopify's Carrier Calculated Shipping API, which comes with restrictions and extra costs for certain Shopify plans.

Our Verdict
For Brazilian merchants exclusively using Correios, Cotei ‑ Correios PAC e SEDEX is the clear choice. Its focus on Correios integration and Brazilian-specific shipping methods provides accurate rates and a streamlined experience for that specific market. Its relative simplicity is also a plus for those needing a straightforward solution.
However, if you're a merchant outside of Brazil, or if you require support for multiple carriers, complex shipping rules based on various factors, or AI-powered packaging optimization, ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules is the superior option. While the setup might be more involved, the flexibility and advanced features offered by ShipX make it a powerful tool for managing complex shipping operations.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Cotei is likely easier to set up if you are a Brazilian merchant primarily using Correios because it's designed specifically for that purpose. ShipX, with its broader feature set and support for multiple carriers, will require more configuration and setup time.
Does either app offer dynamic pricing based on distance?
ShipX explicitly mentions rate calculations by distance, providing the ability to set shipping costs based on how far the customer is from the origin. Cotei does not explicitly state that, but it can use zip codes from the destination for calculation.
Which app is better for dropshipping?
ShipX is better suited for dropshipping, as it supports shipping rates based on supplier origin and allows for complex shipping rules based on product and location.
Can both apps handle international shipping?
Yes, both apps mention support for international shipping. Cotei supports Correios' international shipping options, while ShipX integrates with various carriers that offer international shipping.
Which app is more future-proof?
ShipX is likely more future-proof due to its broader range of features, carrier integrations, and focus on advanced technologies like AI. Cotei's strong focus on Correios may limit its adaptability to changes in the global shipping landscape or the introduction of new carriers.
