Country Blocker vs Currency Converter Bearfor Shopify (2026)
Country Blocker and Currency Converter Bear both utilize geolocation, but serve entirely different purposes for Shopify merchants. Country Blocker focuses on security and access control, allowing merchants to restrict store access based on geographic location or IP address, aiming to prevent unwanted traffic and fraud. It positions itself as an easy-to-use solution for protecting a store from specific regions or users. Its primary focus is on exclusion and control. The complete lack of reviews, however, makes it a risky choice for merchants seeking a reliable solution. Its zero star rating is also concerning. Currency Converter Bear, on the other hand, aims to enhance the customer experience by automatically displaying prices in the customer's local currency based on their location. It supports multiple currencies and integrates seamlessly with Shopify Markets to provide a smooth checkout process. It emphasizes inclusion and global expansion, allowing merchants to cater to international customers with localized pricing. It also seems to be a reputable choice based on it's high rating and reviews.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with security and preventing access from specific regions due to fraud or other reasons, Country Blocker *could* be a solution, if the app had a better rating. However, the complete absence of reviews and a zero-star rating makes it impossible to recommend over a well-established alternative. Currency Converter Bear is the clear choice for merchants looking to expand internationally and provide a better shopping experience for global customers. Its automatic currency conversion, Shopify Markets integration, and high rating make it a reliable and valuable tool.
In short, if your priority is to *exclude* visitors from specific countries, Country Blocker *aims* to do that, but comes with significant risk. If your priority is to *include* international customers and make their shopping experience easier, Currency Converter Bear is the superior choice.
