Coupon X: Discount Code Pop Up vs TORO Sales Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
Coupon X: Discount Code Pop Up and TORO Sales Notifications are both Shopify apps designed to enhance sales through pop-up notifications. However, they target different aspects of the customer journey and employ distinct strategies. Coupon X focuses on capturing leads and reducing cart abandonment with discount codes, email signups, and promo offers delivered via customizable pop-ups. Its strength lies in offering targeted discounts and promotions. TORO Sales Notifications, on the other hand, leverages FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) by displaying sales notifications highlighting limited quantities, flash sales, and best-selling products to drive immediate purchases. The primary difference lies in their approach: Coupon X is proactive, offering incentives, while TORO is reactive, showcasing current customer activity and scarcity. Coupon X emphasizes building an email list and rewarding customers, while TORO concentrates on creating urgency and converting visitors into buyers by showing them what others are purchasing. The maturity of the apps based on the number of reviews is significantly different, giving Coupon X a potentially stronger track record.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing lead generation, cart abandonment reduction, and offering personalized discounts to build a customer base, Coupon X: Discount Code Pop Up is the stronger choice. Its integrations with email marketing platforms like MailChimp and Klaviyo solidify this position. However, merchants focused on creating a sense of urgency, highlighting popular products, and driving immediate sales through FOMO should consider TORO Sales Notifications.
Despite its lower review count, TORO might be suitable for stores already experiencing decent traffic but struggling with conversion rates. It offers a quick way to leverage social proof and perceived scarcity. However, given the significant difference in review count, merchants should exercise caution and potentially test TORO thoroughly before committing long-term. Coupon X offers a more established solution based on user feedback.
