Craftybase Inventory vs Material Managerfor Shopify (2026)
Craftybase Inventory and Material Manager are both inventory management apps for Shopify, but they cater to different needs and business scales. Craftybase positions itself as a comprehensive production and inventory system specifically designed for small-batch makers. Its key strength lies in its ability to track raw materials, build multi-stage Bills of Materials, and manage batch production with lot tracking and expiry dates. This makes it ideal for businesses involved in complex manufacturing processes. Material Manager, on the other hand, presents a more general solution, focusing on efficient material tracking without highlighting production management features as prominently. While both apps share the core functionality of syncing stock levels to sales channels, Craftybase emphasizes features like accurate COGS calculation and smart pricing guidance based on production costs, making it a more robust solution for businesses seeking deeper financial insights. Material Manager, although with a slightly higher rating, has significantly fewer reviews. This suggests it may be a newer app or one with a smaller user base. This can make it more difficult to gauge its long-term reliability and support quality compared to the more established Craftybase Inventory. Both apps offer value to businesses seeking to streamline their inventory workflows, but their specific features and focus areas differentiate them significantly.

Our Verdict
For merchants involved in complex manufacturing processes with batch production and the need for accurate COGS calculation, Craftybase Inventory is the stronger choice. Its features are tailored to manage the intricacies of small-batch production, offering a comprehensive solution for tracking raw materials, building Bills of Materials, and managing production schedules.
If a merchant requires a simpler solution focused solely on material tracking and optimization without the need for extensive production management features, Material Manager may be sufficient. However, given the limited number of reviews, it's advisable to carefully evaluate the app's support and long-term reliability before committing, particularly as of 2026 when the Shopify ecosystem will have further matured. Craftybase's larger user base and more detailed feature set provide a more robust and scalable solution for businesses with manufacturing needs.
