Crowdin vs Currency Converter Plusfor Shopify (2026)
Crowdin and Currency Converter Plus both operate within the "Currency and translation" category on Shopify, but they address fundamentally different needs for merchants aiming to expand internationally. Crowdin focuses on translating store content into multiple languages, aiming to broaden customer reach by making the store accessible to non-native speakers. Its value proposition lies in automating the translation workflow and ensuring translation quality through features like QA checks and glossaries. In contrast, Currency Converter Plus prioritizes adapting to customers' local currency preferences by automatically detecting their location and displaying prices accordingly. It emphasizes ease of use, comprehensive currency support, and reliability through frequent exchange rate updates. The key difference lies in their primary function: Crowdin offers content localization, while Currency Converter Plus focuses on currency conversion. Crowdin targets merchants looking to make their store multilingual and attract customers from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Currency Converter Plus, on the other hand, caters to merchants who want to provide a seamless shopping experience by showing prices in the customer's local currency, improving conversion rates and customer satisfaction in international markets. The user ratings currently show a significant disparity, which should be taken into consideration when making a decision.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing making their store content available in multiple languages to appeal to a wider audience, Crowdin is the appropriate choice, assuming the lack of current reviews is addressed with time and usage. However, it's crucial to thoroughly evaluate its features and user experience due to the absence of ratings and reviews. If the main objective is to enhance the shopping experience for international customers by displaying prices in their local currency without complex translation management, Currency Converter Plus is the more suitable option, especially considering its strong rating and positive reviews.
In summary, the decision depends on the specific goals of international expansion. If linguistic accessibility is paramount, Crowdin is the starting point for investigation. For ease of use and immediate impact on international sales through currency adaptation, Currency Converter Plus appears to be the stronger choice, as supported by the significant number of positive reviews.
