Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer vs Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 linksfor Shopify (2026)
Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer and Redirect Hero are both Shopify apps within the SEO category, but they address fundamentally different needs. Crush focuses on improving website speed and image SEO through image optimization and renaming. It targets merchants concerned with large image file sizes slowing down their site and who want to improve their search engine rankings through better image optimization. Redirect Hero, conversely, focuses on managing and fixing 404 errors, ensuring a smooth user experience and preventing lost traffic. It caters to merchants concerned with broken links and the negative impact they have on customer experience and SEO. Crush appears to be more of a 'set it and forget it' solution, allowing merchants to configure image compression and renaming settings once and then automatically apply them to images as they are uploaded. Redirect Hero, on the other hand, likely requires more active management as merchants identify and address broken links. While both contribute to overall SEO, Crush is proactive, optimizing content *before* it impacts performance, while Redirect Hero is reactive, addressing problems *after* they arise. The significantly higher number of reviews for Crush suggests a broader appeal, possibly because image optimization is a more universal concern than 404 error management.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing website speed and proactive image SEO, Crush: Speed & Image Optimizer is the clear choice. Its focus on automatic image compression and renaming offers a significant advantage in boosting website performance and search engine rankings. The large number of reviews suggests it's a well-established and trusted solution for this purpose.
However, if a merchant is specifically struggling with broken links and 404 errors, Redirect Hero is the more appropriate solution. While Crush may indirectly help with SEO, it doesn't directly address the problem of broken links. A perfect rating, while based on fewer reviews, indicates high user satisfaction in its niche. Therefore, the choice depends entirely on the specific problem a merchant is trying to solve.
