Crush Suite vs Lifter Age Checkfor Shopify (2026)
Crush Suite and Lifter Age Check both aim to help Shopify merchants comply with legal requirements, but they address fundamentally different aspects. Crush Suite focuses on the complex world of wine compliance, particularly around VinoShipper integration, alcohol tax calculation, and product availability restrictions by state. Its primary strength lies in providing a comprehensive solution for merchants selling wine online. In contrast, Lifter Age Check provides a simple, customizable age verification gate for any website selling age-restricted products, focusing on preventing underage access. While both apps have perfect 5/5 ratings, Lifter Age Check benefits from a significantly larger number of reviews (7) compared to Crush Suite (1), suggesting broader usage or a longer presence in the market. Crush Suite's value proposition revolves around saving merchants time and resources on wine compliance, even without needing Shopify Plus. Lifter Age Check focuses on creating a professional and user-friendly age verification experience, which is particularly valuable for stores where brand image is paramount. The core difference is that Crush Suite provides complete wine sales compliance features, especially when using Vinoshipper, while Lifter Age Check simply verifies the age of visitors before they access the site. If you sell wine and need sophisticated compliance tools, Crush Suite is tailored to you. If you sell any age-restricted goods and simply need a basic age gate, Lifter Age Check is the better choice.

Our Verdict
For merchants specifically in the wine industry, especially those utilizing VinoShipper or seeking a comprehensive compliance solution directly integrated with their Shopify store, Crush Suite is the superior choice. It goes beyond simple age verification to offer features like tax calculation, product availability based on location, and shipping compliance.
However, if your business sells any age-restricted product (not just wine) and you simply need a visually appealing and brand-consistent age verification screen, Lifter Age Check provides a more focused and potentially easier-to-implement solution. The higher number of reviews also lends more credence to its ease of use and overall effectiveness. Lifter Age Check also allows you to choose what pages the popup appears on, which may be better for stores that only have some age restricted items.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Lifter Age Check is likely easier to set up due to its singular focus on age verification, while Crush Suite requires configuration of wine compliance rules, potentially involving VinoShipper integration.
Which app offers better value for money for a general store selling a few age-restricted items?
Lifter Age Check likely provides better value. Crush Suite's wine-specific features would be unnecessary overhead.
Which app is best for merchants who don't use VinoShipper?
Crush Suite allows merchants to use their own self compliance, so if wine merchants aren't using vinoshipper and need Shopify ecosystem integration, Crush Suite would be the better option. Lifter Age Check is a broad age verification product.
Does either app guarantee legal compliance?
Neither app can guarantee full legal compliance. They provide tools to help merchants comply, but ultimate responsibility lies with the merchant to ensure they meet all applicable laws and regulations. One review is not sufficient to guarantee a full legal compliance.
Which app is more suitable for mobile users?
Lifter Age Check explicitly states that it's 'Optimized for Mobile,' while Crush Suite doesn't mention mobile optimization directly. Therefore, Lifter Age Check is likely better suited for mobile users.
