CS ‑ Export Product Images vs Filey ‑ Files Backup & Exportfor Shopify (2026)
CS ‑ Export Product Images and Filey ‑ Files Backup & Export both address the need for exporting files from a Shopify store, but they cater to distinct use cases. CS ‑ Export Product Images focuses specifically on product image export, providing granular control over which images are extracted based on criteria like status, collection, date, and vendor. It also offers customized naming conventions (SKU, Barcode, ID) and folder structures, catering to merchants who need to organize and repurpose product images for external marketing or data management. Filey ‑ Files Backup & Export, on the other hand, takes a broader approach, targeting merchants who need to back up or migrate their entire store's file library (accessed via Content -> Files in Shopify). It offers a one-click export of all files, including product images, videos, and 3D models, making it suitable for store backups or migrations. Filey also offers a convenient import feature for these files, addressing the full scope of transferring files from one Shopify store to another. While CS ‑ Export Product Images provides targeted extraction, Filey focuses on holistic store file management.

Our Verdict
For merchants who need granular control over product image extraction and specific naming conventions, CS ‑ Export Product Images is the better choice. Its filtering options enable targeted exports for specific marketing campaigns, inventory updates, or data analysis. Its focus on product images makes it specialized and suited for merchants who deal heavily with product photography.
However, if the primary goal is to back up the entire store's file library or migrate it to a new store, Filey ‑ Files Backup & Export is the superior solution. Its one-click export and import capabilities provide a simpler and more efficient approach to managing the store's overall file assets. While it lacks the granular control of CS, its broader scope makes it ideal for complete store data management.
