Our Verdict
If your primary pain point is efficiently uploading and managing a large number of product images, particularly when migrating from another system or updating a large catalog, then CS ‑ Smart Bulk Image Upload is the clear choice. The intelligent matching and cloud storage integrations are significant time savers. However, if your primary concern is data backup, disaster recovery, or migrating your store's files to a new platform, Filey ‑ Files Backup & Export is the more appropriate solution. It provides a simple and effective way to download all your store's files. The choice hinges on whether your immediate need is to manage images going *into* your store, or backing up existing files *out* of your store.
Common Questions
Can both apps handle product image migration?
Yes, but in different ways. CS ‑ Smart Bulk Image Upload is designed for importing and matching product images based on identifiers. Filey exports all files from the Shopify 'Files' section, which may include product images, allowing you to import them to another store but without intelligent matching functionality.
Which app is better for backing up my entire Shopify store?
Neither app backs up your *entire* Shopify store. Filey focuses on the 'Content -> Files' section. A complete store backup would require a separate app specializing in database and theme backups.
Can Filey automatically resize images during export?
No, Filey exports files as they are stored in Shopify. It does not offer image resizing or optimization features.
Does CS - Smart Bulk Image Upload support uploading videos or 3D models?
The description of CS - Smart Bulk Image Upload focuses exclusively on images. It does not mention support for video or 3D model uploads.
Is one app easier to use than the other?
Filey is likely easier to use initially because it offers a straightforward one-click export process. CS - Smart Bulk Image Upload, while powerful, might require a bit more setup and configuration to ensure accurate image matching.
