CSS Sales Team vs Roster: Ambassador Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
CSS Sales Team and Roster: Ambassador Marketing both aim to drive sales through external advocates, but they take fundamentally different approaches. CSS Sales Team focuses on direct sales representatives, providing tools to manage them, track commissions, and facilitate B2B sales through dedicated portals. Its strength lies in automating the administrative overhead of managing a sales team. In contrast, Roster: Ambassador Marketing focuses on brand ambassadors – passionate fans who promote the brand organically. It offers tools for recruitment, engagement, reward fulfillment, and performance tracking of these ambassadors. CSS Sales Team is suited for merchants with an established sales team or those seeking to build one, focusing on a more structured, B2B-oriented sales approach. Roster, on the other hand, caters to merchants looking to leverage word-of-mouth marketing and build a community of loyal brand advocates to increase awareness and sales through social proof and user-generated content. The core difference is in the type of advocates: employees vs. passionate customers.

Our Verdict
For merchants with an existing sales team or the intent to build one for B2B sales, CSS Sales Team is the clear choice. It automates commission tracking, provides dedicated portals for reps, and manages customer assignments. However, for merchants focusing on building brand awareness through organic reach and social proof, Roster: Ambassador Marketing offers a comprehensive platform to recruit, engage, and reward brand ambassadors.
While both apps fall under the 'Affiliate programs' category, their approaches are distinct. Roster's higher rating is based on fewer reviews, so this should be considered. If a business needs robust sales team management, CSS Sales Team is likely the better option. If organic growth and UGC are the priorities, Roster is the preferable route.
