CSS Sales Team vs Snowball: Affiliate Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
CSS Sales Team and Snowball: Affiliate Marketing both operate within the affiliate programs category on Shopify, but target distinct merchant needs. CSS Sales Team focuses on providing a comprehensive solution for managing internal sales representatives, including commission tracking, B2B sales enablement via branded portals, and order management tools. In contrast, based on its name, Snowball: Affiliate Marketing is designed for merchants looking to leverage external affiliates to boost sales. The key differentiator lies in whether the merchant is managing an internal sales team or an external network of affiliates. CSS Sales Team's feature set is richer, offering tools beyond commission and sales tracking to manage the entire sales representative workflow within the Shopify environment, particularly focusing on B2B sales models. Snowball, on the other hand, likely provides functionality geared towards recruiting, managing, and incentivizing external affiliate partners. Despite CSS Sales Team having a higher rating (4.9/5 compared to Snowball's 4.7/5), Snowball: Affiliate Marketing boasts significantly more reviews (174 versus 75), potentially indicating a larger user base or wider appeal. CSS Sales Team has a more established user base though, claiming to be trusted by 6000+ stores which suggests significant traction despite the lower review count. The choice between the two hinges on the merchant's sales strategy: internal sales team management versus external affiliate partnerships.

Our Verdict
For merchants managing an internal sales team and especially those engaged in B2B sales, CSS Sales Team is the clear choice. Its branded rep portals, flexible commission structures, and seamless integration with the Shopify admin provide a comprehensive solution for managing sales reps and driving sales through direct channels. CSS Sales Team has a substantial user base, indicating a proven track record despite fewer customer reviews.
Snowball: Affiliate Marketing is better suited for merchants looking to build and manage an external affiliate network. Although details are limited, the name suggests that its primary strength lies in facilitating partnerships and rewarding affiliates for driving sales. The higher number of reviews for Snowball suggests a broader appeal within the affiliate marketing space. However, for merchants needing robust internal sales team management features, CSS Sales Team presents a stronger value proposition.
Common Questions
Is CSS Sales Team suitable for affiliate marketing?
While CSS Sales Team offers affiliate links for each rep, its core focus is on managing internal sales teams. It's not primarily designed for external affiliate marketing in the same way Snowball appears to be.
Can Snowball: Affiliate Marketing manage internal sales teams?
Based on its name and the absence of features like rep portals or customer assignment, Snowball: Affiliate Marketing is unlikely to be suitable for managing internal sales teams. Its focus appears to be solely on external affiliate relationships.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Without detailed product demos or user feedback, it's difficult to definitively say. However, CSS Sales Team's broader feature set might involve a steeper learning curve compared to Snowball's potentially more focused functionality.
Which app is better for B2B sales?
CSS Sales Team explicitly offers branded rep portals with B2B quote and order management, making it the better choice for merchants focused on B2B sales through their sales representatives.
If I use both internal sales teams and external affiliates, could I use both apps?
Potentially, yes. CSS Sales Team can manage the internal team, while Snowball manages the external affiliate program. This would lead to duplicated effort, however. Seeking one platform that manages both may save time.
