Currency Converter Plus vs Paytring Currency Converterfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, the choice between Currency Converter Plus and Paytring Currency Converter for Shopify hinges on a merchant's priorities and risk tolerance. Currency Converter Plus positions itself as the 'professional' and stable choice, backed by a strong track record of positive reviews (5/5 from 191 reviews). It emphasizes meticulous design and comprehensive features like a vast currency selection (222 currencies) and high-quality IP geolocation. This app likely targets merchants seeking a proven, reliable solution with extensive customization options. Paytring Currency Converter, on the other hand, is the newer, untested option (0/5 rating, 0 reviews). Its core value proposition lies in seamless integration with the checkout process, allowing customers to pay in their local currency using 'Paytring Quick'. This feature, alongside its emphasis on speed ('Instant Loader') and brand customization ('Brand Match'), suggests a focus on conversion rate optimization and a frictionless shopping experience. Paytring seems geared toward merchants willing to experiment with a newer app to potentially gain an edge in global sales by offering a localized checkout experience, but with the risk associated with no user reviews.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing stability, a proven track record, and a comprehensive feature set, Currency Converter Plus is the safer and more reliable choice. Its high rating and numerous positive reviews speak to its effectiveness and user satisfaction. However, merchants willing to take a risk in pursuit of a potential competitive advantage, especially those focused on optimizing conversion rates through localized checkout experiences, might find Paytring Currency Converter a worthwhile experiment, assuming they are comfortable being an early adopter and closely monitor its performance.
Ultimately, the best app depends on the individual needs and risk tolerance of the merchant. Currency Converter Plus is the safer bet for most, while Paytring Currency Converter offers a potentially more impactful feature set but comes with the inherent risks of an unproven product.
Common Questions
Which app offers a safer choice for a new store owner?
Currency Converter Plus is the safer option for new store owners due to its established reputation, positive reviews, and comprehensive documentation. Paytring Currency Converter, being a new app with no reviews, presents a higher risk for inexperienced users.
Which app is better for merchants wanting to offer checkout in the customer's local currency?
Paytring Currency Converter is designed to offer checkout in the customer's local currency with their "Paytring Quick" functionality. Currency Converter Plus does not explicitly state it offers this feature.
How important are the number of available currencies?
The importance depends on your target market. If you target many niche countries, Currency Converter Plus with its 222+ currencies might be better. If your customer base is in major economies, Paytring's 160+ might be sufficient.
What are the potential downsides of choosing Paytring given its lack of reviews?
