CustomerGenius vs Fraud Judge Fraud Preventionfor Shopify (2026)
Both CustomerGenius and Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention aim to mitigate fraud on Shopify stores. CustomerGenius focuses primarily on discount code abuse, automatically detecting suspicious order patterns related to multiple email accounts using the same shipping address and integrates with Shipstation and Recharge for streamlined order cancellations. Its value proposition lies in automation and ease of use in preventing discount code exploitation, making it attractive to merchants facing substantial losses from this specific type of fraud. Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention, on the other hand, offers a broader approach to fraud prevention through customized rules, ID & address verification, and real-time black/whitelists. The primary difference lies in their scope. CustomerGenius is specialized for discount abuse, offering an automated solution, while Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention provides a more customizable, comprehensive fraud prevention system. Fraud Judge's feature set empowers merchants to define their own fraud rules and verification procedures, giving them greater control over the fraud detection process. The app targets merchants needing advanced control and customization with chargeback protection and security. The choice between the two apps depends on the specific fraud problems a merchant faces and their level of desired control.

Our Verdict
CustomerGenius is the better choice for merchants primarily struggling with discount code abuse and prefer a hands-off, automated solution. The Recharge and Shipstation integrations are a significant advantage for stores heavily relying on subscriptions and integrated shipping. Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention, with its customizable rules and verification methods, is suited for merchants needing a comprehensive and adaptable fraud prevention system, especially those prioritizing chargeback protection and control over fraud detection processes.
For merchants on a budget, or those with a smaller risk appetite for discount code fraud, starting with CustomerGenius makes more sense. However, if more advanced fraud risks are present, Fraud Judge Fraud Prevention will offer greater long term peace of mind, and should provide a better return on investment due to avoiding chargeback fees.
