Deliverlitics: Stop Scammers vs Real ID ‑ ID verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Deliverlitics: Stop Scammers and Real ID - ID verification both aim to reduce fraud on Shopify stores, but take distinct approaches. Deliverlitics focuses on identifying and preventing delivery scams by analyzing merchant-side data like returns and support messages, targeting repeat offenders and protecting trusted customers. It emphasizes automated actions based on risk levels to prevent losses before they happen, positioning itself as a proactive solution against 'friendly fraud'. Real ID - ID verification, conversely, focuses on verifying customer identities using AI-powered ID checks, allowing merchants to confirm identities before, during, or after checkout. This is particularly useful for age-restricted goods and reducing chargebacks by validating customer information directly. The key difference lies in the type of fraud they combat. Deliverlitics specializes in post-purchase delivery-related fraud, while Real ID - ID verification tackles fraud stemming from identity issues during the purchasing process. Both offer automation, but Deliverlitics uses internal data analysis to flag suspicious orders, while Real ID - ID verification uses external ID verification to authenticate the customer. The choice between the two hinges on which aspect of fraud is more prevalent or concerning for the merchant.

Our Verdict
For merchants plagued by delivery disputes and potential 'friendly fraud', Deliverlitics: Stop Scammers is likely the more effective solution. Its AI-driven analysis of internal merchant data allows it to identify repeat offenders and proactively prevent losses without directly impacting the customer experience for legitimate buyers. The free initial scam protection adds an attractive incentive to try it out.
However, if the primary concern is identity theft, chargebacks due to fraudulent purchases, or compliance with age-restricted product sales, Real ID - ID verification is the better choice. Its ID verification process adds a layer of security by confirming customer identities before or during the transaction. While it requires more active participation from the customer, it provides a stronger defense against identity-related fraud and ensures compliance with legal requirements.
