Delm ‑ Estimated Delivery Date vs JsRates: Custom Shipping Ratesfor Shopify (2026)
Delm - Estimated Delivery Date and JsRates: Custom Shipping Rates cater to vastly different needs within the Shopify ecosystem. Delm focuses on enhancing the post-purchase customer experience by providing estimated delivery dates, which helps manage customer expectations and potentially reduce order inquiries. JsRates, on the other hand, targets merchants with complex and highly customized shipping needs. Its core strength lies in its ability to leverage JavaScript to define shipping rates based on a wide range of parameters, offering granular control over shipping costs. JsRates appeals to tech-savvy merchants or those willing to invest in technical assistance. It offers unparalleled flexibility for businesses with intricate shipping rules based on factors like product characteristics, customer attributes, geographical location, or external API data. Delm, however, aims for simplicity and ease of use, focusing on a common pain point for all e-commerce businesses: providing transparent delivery estimates. Its target audience is broad, encompassing any Shopify merchant seeking to improve customer satisfaction regarding shipping timelines.

Our Verdict
If you're looking for a straightforward solution to improve customer satisfaction by providing accurate delivery date estimates, Delm is the clear choice. It's likely to be easier to implement and manage, requiring no coding expertise. It benefits a much broader base of merchants.
However, if your business has complex shipping requirements that standard Shopify shipping settings can't handle, and you have the technical expertise (or are willing to hire someone with JavaScript skills), JsRates provides unparalleled flexibility. Its ability to integrate with third-party APIs, use metafields, and create custom rules based on diverse criteria makes it a powerful tool for optimizing shipping costs and offering tailored shipping options to your customers. JsRates really shines for Shopify Plus merchants who need to heavily customize every aspect of their store.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Delm is likely significantly easier to set up and use, as it focuses on a single function without requiring any coding knowledge. JsRates demands JavaScript proficiency or technical assistance for its configuration.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, the apps address different needs and can coexist. Delm provides delivery date estimates, while JsRates customizes shipping rates. There is no functional overlap that would cause conflict.
Which app is better for a small business just starting out?
Delm is likely the better option for a small business. It is easier to use, addresses a common customer need, and doesn't require specialized technical skills.
Does JsRates integrate with carrier services like USPS or FedEx?
JsRates doesn't directly integrate with carrier services in the traditional way. It uses their APIs through custom JavaScript code to fetch rates and display shipping options that are created by JavaScript code within the app. The developer sets up how these rates are displayed, offering total control compared to the more automated offerings in Shopify.
What level of JavaScript knowledge is needed to use JsRates effectively?
A solid understanding of JavaScript is essential to leverage JsRates' full potential.
