Our Verdict
For merchants heavily reliant on DHL and seeking to automate their shipping process within Shopify, DHL eCommerce appears to be the suitable choice, despite its low rating and review count. However, given the limited data, caution is advised. On the other hand, DS: Address Validation / Block is ideal for any merchant, regardless of their shipping carrier, who wants to minimize shipping errors, prevent fraud, and customize shipping rules. Its higher rating and review count suggest greater user satisfaction and reliability. For many, DS: Address Validation / Block will provide more immediate and broadly applicable value, while DHL eCommerce is specifically for those already deeply integrated with DHL's ecosystem.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a merchant that wants to offer local delivery options?
DS: Address Validation / Block is better suited as it allows you to limit orders by city, province or zip code. DHL eCommerce is geared toward using DHL's existing shipping network, not local delivery.
Which app offers more comprehensive tracking?
DHL eCommerce automatically fills track and trace information after label creation, focusing on DHL shipments. DS: Address Validation / Block does not provide tracking information.
Which app is easier to use for a beginner?
DS: Address Validation / Block is likely easier to use due to its straightforward focus on address validation and fraud prevention rules. DHL eCommerce requires integration with MyDHLPortal, which may be complex for beginners.
Which app helps prevent fraud?
DS: Address Validation / Block directly addresses fraud prevention by allowing merchants to block specific zip codes, PO boxes, and other suspicious address elements.
Which app is more beneficial for large Shopify Plus merchants?
Both apps can be beneficial, depending on needs. However, DS: Address Validation / Block specifically notes that Shopify Plus is not required, potentially broadening its appeal to smaller merchants. The full value of DHL eCommerce might be realized more fully by high-volume shippers, which are often Plus merchants, but its value is independent of plan-level.
