Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a tried-and-tested solution with a proven track record and a comprehensive feature set, including license key management and analytics, Digital Downloads Pendora is likely the better choice. Its established user base suggests reliability and maturity. However, merchants prioritizing rapid setup and extreme ease of use, especially those new to selling digital products, may find EZ Digital Downloads more appealing. The ability to customize the download page provides a potentially valuable branding opportunity for those users. The limited number of reviews for EZ Digital Downloads means merchants should be cautious and consider a trial period if available.
Common Questions
Which app is better for merchants selling software with license keys?
Both apps offer license key management, making them suitable for selling software. However, Digital Downloads Pendora's focus on 'full control' and inclusion of analytics might be more appealing for software vendors who need detailed insights into their sales and usage.
Is one app more suitable for selling large video files?
Both apps support various file types, including MP4 for videos. While neither explicitly mentions handling large video files, Digital Downloads Pendora references 'big digitally downloadable files,' suggesting it may be optimized for larger files better than EZ Digital Downloads, however this requires further verification.
Which app is easier to integrate with an existing Shopify store?
EZ Digital Downloads claims a setup time of 'minutes,' implying a very simple integration process. Digital Downloads Pendora doesn't explicitly state ease of integration, so EZ Digital Downloads likely has the edge here for initial setup.
Which app offers better protection against unauthorized file sharing?
Both apps offer download limits, which helps prevent redistribution. Without further information about security features, it is difficult to definitively say which offers better protection. Merchants should inquire about DRM capabilities or security protocols from both app developers.
Does either app support subscription-based digital product sales?
Neither description explicitly mentions subscription support. Merchants interested in subscription models would need to confirm this functionality with both app developers.
