Our Verdict
If your Shopify store already has a thriving Discord community and you want to leverage it for loyalty programs, exclusive content, and direct engagement, Discord Connect is the clear choice. Its feature set caters directly to enhancing the Discord experience for your customers and using it as a marketing and community management tool. The ability to assign roles based on purchases and offer exclusive discounts within Discord provides tangible value to both the merchant and the customer.
However, if your focus is on building or maintaining a Discourse forum community and you want to streamline the login process for your Shopify customers, Discoursify – Discourse login is the more appropriate solution. Its primary goal is to reduce friction for forum users by allowing them to use their existing Shopify credentials. While both streamline logins, Discoursify is geared towards Discourse user acquisition and retention.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without hands-on experience, it's hard to judge. Discord Connect requires creating a custom Discord developer app, which might involve more technical steps initially. Discoursify – Discourse login's Oauth2/SSO setup might be more straightforward if you're familiar with those technologies.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Theoretically, yes, if you have both a Discord community and a Discourse forum. However, consider the potential for user confusion if customers need to manage logins for multiple platforms. Using one is generally recommended for clarity and a better user experience.
Which app offers better customer support?
This is impossible to determine based on the app descriptions. Check for available documentation, support channels (email, chat, phone), and response times before making a decision.
Which app is more likely to increase sales?
Discord Connect might indirectly increase sales by offering exclusive discounts and promotions to Discord members based on their roles or purchases. Discoursify – Discourse login primarily focuses on community engagement, which could lead to increased brand loyalty and, eventually, sales, but it's less direct.
What are the potential drawbacks of using Discord Connect?
The main drawback is the reliance on Discord. If Discord changes its policies or becomes less popular, the app's value diminishes. Additionally, managing a Discord community effectively requires significant time and effort.
