Discount Deck vs Metafields Gurufor Shopify (2026)
Discount Deck and Metafields Guru, while both available in the Metafields category on Shopify, target drastically different needs. Discount Deck focuses on enhancing the customer experience by prominently displaying available coupons on the My Page and cart page, aiming to boost conversions. Its key selling point is its ease of use and claimed data privacy, storing no personal customer data on external servers. Given the lack of reviews, it's a relatively new app with unproven effectiveness. Metafields Guru, on the other hand, is a mature and highly-rated app dedicated to managing and displaying metafields. It allows merchants to store custom data like product specifications, downloadable files, and related products to create unique storefront experiences. Boasting a large number of positive reviews, it offers functionalities for bulk editing, storefront display without coding, data migration, backups, and browser extensions for easier management within the Shopify admin. The two apps share the 'Metafields' category because Discount Deck likely stores and displays its coupon information using Metafields behind the scenes.

Our Verdict
Discount Deck, if its claims hold true, would suit merchants who primarily need to improve coupon visibility and conversion rates with a simple and privacy-focused solution. However, the lack of reviews makes it a risky choice.
Metafields Guru is the clear choice for merchants seeking robust metafield management capabilities to customize their storefront and store unique data for their products. The high rating and numerous positive reviews provide strong evidence of its effectiveness and reliability. For any store needing to store and manage custom data, Metafields Guru is the recommended option. If the customer ultimately uses metafields to display coupons via complex theme or pagebuilder manipulations, it could be an alternative for Discount Deck.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Discount Deck claims to be set up with 'one click,' suggesting it is designed for ease of use. Metafields Guru, while intuitive, likely requires a steeper learning curve due to its comprehensive feature set.
Which app is better for handling large amounts of data?
Metafields Guru is designed for managing large amounts of custom data via metafields, offering bulk editing, export, and import functionalities. Discount Deck is focused on managing and displaying coupons; it may not be suitable for extensive data management.
Is Metafields Guru useful for displaying coupons?
Yes, but indirectly. Metafields Guru allows you to store coupon codes and descriptions as metafields. Displaying these metafields on the storefront requires custom theme modifications or the use of a page builder. Discount Deck is a simpler, direct solution to only coupon display if it functions as described.
Does Discount Deck store customer information?
Discount Deck claims not to store personal customer data on external servers, emphasizing a focus on data privacy. Metafields Guru does not make similar claims about customer data security directly, and you should read their privacy policy to be sure.
Which app has better long-term support and development?
Metafields Guru, with its established user base and numerous positive reviews, likely has a more robust support system and ongoing development roadmap compared to Discount Deck, which currently lacks user feedback.
