Our Verdict
Discount Hunt is better suited for merchants aiming to enhance the on-site shopping experience through gamification and data collection. Its customizable hunts can be particularly effective for seasonal promotions or targeted campaigns. However, the low rating and limited reviews should be taken into account. Gatsby: Convert Your Followers is ideal for merchants heavily invested in Instagram marketing and looking to convert followers into engaged email and SMS subscribers. Its higher rating, numerous reviews, and integrations with popular marketing platforms suggest greater reliability and functionality. If Instagram is a key channel, Gatsby is the clear choice. However, if the goal is to drive on-site engagement and create unique shopping experiences, Discount Hunt may be worth exploring despite the risks.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on reviews and feature complexity, Gatsby is likely easier to set up due to its focus on Instagram integration and established integrations. Discount Hunt might require more customization for hunt creation.
Which app is better for long-term customer retention?
Gatsby could offer better long-term retention due to its email and SMS marketing capabilities, allowing for ongoing engagement beyond a single website visit. Discount Hunt's retention potential relies on repeat gamified campaigns.
Which app has a better ROI potential?
It depends on the merchant's strategy. If Instagram followers are valuable and easily converted, Gatsby offers a higher ROI potential. Discount Hunt's ROI hinges on the effectiveness of its gamified hunts in driving sales and customer acquisition.
What if I want to run both on-site promotions and Instagram giveaways?
Given their distinct focuses, using both apps concurrently is viable if the budget allows. They address different aspects of customer engagement and acquisition. Integrating the two strategically could create a more robust marketing funnel. For example, using Discount Hunt to reward people who have subscribed to an email list acquired through Gatsby.
Does Discount Hunt work with SMS marketing?
Based on the description, Discount Hunt does *not* directly support SMS marketing. Its focus is on collecting customer data (including, potentially, phone numbers) within the app itself and presumably then exporting that data to SMS marketing tools. Gatsby, on the other hand, explicitly integrates with SMS marketing via Attentive.
