Discount Spinner – LuckSpin vs FreeDropfor Shopify (2026)
Discount Spinner – LuckSpin and FreeDrop both aim to gamify the discount experience for Shopify merchants, fitting into the 'Giveaways and Contests' category. However, they approach this goal with fundamentally different mechanics and target different merchant needs. LuckSpin focuses on simple discount delivery via a spin wheel, emphasizing ease of setup and immediate gratification for customers. FreeDrop, on the other hand, prioritizes lead generation through engaging game formats, offering detailed analytics and email/phone number collection for targeted marketing efforts. LuckSpin's strength lies in its simplicity. Merchants seeking a quick and easy way to offer discounts and boost sales using a recognizable mechanic (the spin wheel) will find it appealing. It requires no coding skills and offers immediate discount deployment. FreeDrop's value proposition centers on converting website visitors into leads by offering them a chance to win discounts in exchange for their contact information. It provides deeper insights into campaign performance and facilitates targeted communication with potential customers. The choice between the two depends on whether the merchant prioritizes immediate sales boost via easily accessible discounts or longer-term customer acquisition and engagement via gamified lead generation.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing a simple and immediate way to offer discounts and potentially boost sales without requiring user information, Discount Spinner – LuckSpin may seem appealing. However, the lack of reviews and a zero rating in 2026 should raise serious concerns about its reliability and effectiveness. Merchants should proceed with extreme caution, if at all.
FreeDrop, despite having only 3 reviews, boasts a perfect rating, indicating a positive user experience. If the primary goal is lead generation and building a customer base through engaging gamification, FreeDrop is the clearly superior choice. The app's data collection capabilities and detailed analytics provide valuable insights for optimizing marketing strategies and building targeted campaigns. Given the context in 2026, FreeDrop would generally be the recommended option unless a merchant specifically avoids collecting any customer data whatsoever.
