Discounty: Bulk Discount Sales vs Variant Option Product Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
Discounty: Bulk Discount Sales and Variant Option Product Options are both Shopify apps in the 'Selling products' category, but they address fundamentally different needs. Discounty focuses on boosting sales through a wide range of discounts and promotional offers, aiming to increase AOV and conversion rates. It's designed for merchants who want to easily implement and manage various discount strategies, from BOGO and volume discounts to free shipping promotions and flash sales. In contrast, Variant Option Product Options addresses the limitations of Shopify's built-in variant system, enabling merchants to offer products with numerous customizable options, such as color swatches, text boxes, and image uploads. The primary difference lies in their core functionality. Discounty is about increasing sales *through* discounts, whereas Variant Option Product Options is about increasing sales *through* product customization and removing limitations on product variations. Discounty targets merchants needing robust discount management tools, including automatic discounts and customizable sales badges, while Variant Option Product Options is for merchants selling products with complex customization requirements or those needing to offer more than the standard Shopify limit of 100 variants per product. The support team responsiveness for Discounty is also mentioned in its description as a key feature.
