Dodgeball vs Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Preventfor Shopify (2026)
Dodgeball and Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent are both Shopify apps designed to combat fraud, but they approach the problem with different strategies and cater to slightly different merchant needs. Dodgeball emphasizes a holistic, end-to-end view of the customer journey, allowing merchants to create custom fraud policies at every step, potentially integrating with existing fraud engines. It focuses on providing in-product visibility and sophisticated analytics for fraud detection. Fraud Falcon, on the other hand, offers a more rules-based, hands-on approach to fraud prevention. It empowers merchants to build custom fraud filter rules that automatically block orders based on various criteria like risk level, email type, and IP address. Fraud Falcon provides a streamlined setup wizard to suggest rules tailored to the merchant's specific store profile. It is more focused on immediate action, with options to cancel orders, auto-refund, and restock inventory automatically. Our Verdict
For merchants who want a deeply customizable and comprehensive fraud prevention solution that provides a complete view of the user's journey, Dodgeball is the more suitable choice. Its ability to integrate with other fraud engines makes it a good option for larger or more complex businesses that already have established fraud prevention workflows. However, due to the low number of reviews, this comes with some inherent risk.
For merchants who prefer a simpler, more immediately actionable solution with pre-built rules and a guided setup, Fraud Falcon is the better option. Its focus on automatically blocking risky orders, refunding, and restocking inventory makes it ideal for businesses that want to automate fraud prevention and minimize manual intervention. The setup wizard is a great feature for less technically inclined users who appreciate assistance in setting up rules tailored to their store.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent appears to be easier to set up due to its setup wizard, which analyzes your store and suggests fraud rules tailored to your business. Dodgeball mentions 'a few clicks' for setup, but doesn't offer the same level of guided assistance.
Which app is better for integrating with my existing fraud tools?
Dodgeball explicitly states that it integrates with 3rd party fraud engines for Shopify users. Fraud Falcon does not mention any direct integrations with other fraud detection tools.
Which app offers more control over fraud prevention?
While both offer control, Fraud Falcon's rules-based approach grants more direct control. You define the conditions and actions triggered. Dodgeball's approach, while potentially more sophisticated, might involve less explicit control as it relies on automated analysis and policy enforcement.
Which app is better for a brand new Shopify store?
Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent, with its setup wizard and suggested rules, is likely better for a brand new Shopify store as it provides guidance and quickly implements basic fraud protection. Dodgeball might be more appropriate once you have more data to analyze and more complex fraud patterns to address.
Which app has more social proof?
Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent has more social proof with 6 reviews compared to Dodgeball's single review. This suggests a higher level of user adoption and potentially greater reliability, though it doesn't guarantee superior performance.
