DPO Dynamic Product Options vs LensAdvisor: Prescription Lensfor Shopify (2026)
DPO Dynamic Product Options and LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens both cater to the "Custom products" and "Product variants" Shopify categories, but they address very different needs. DPO aims to provide broad customization options for *any* product, allowing merchants to offer tailored configurations to their customers. LensAdvisor, on the other hand, is laser-focused on enabling the sale of prescription eyewear (glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses) online, offering features specifically designed to handle prescriptions and integrate with optical labs. DPO is likely suited for a wide range of merchants seeking to enhance product customization, whereas LensAdvisor's appeal is limited to eyewear retailers venturing into the online prescription space. While both apps boast a 5/5 rating, DPO Dynamic Product Options has significantly more reviews (290) compared to LensAdvisor (27). This suggests a broader user base and potentially more established market presence. LensAdvisor's strength lies in its specialized features such as prescription handling via image upload, manual entry, or email, and integration with partner optical labs. DPO’s advantage likely comes from its flexibility in allowing any product type to have variable options. LensAdvisor’s headline emphasizes increased profits and time savings, while DPO likely focuses on increasing conversion rates through personalized offerings.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants selling prescription eyewear, LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens is the clear choice. Its features are specifically designed to address the unique challenges of selling prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses online. The ability to receive prescriptions through various methods and integrate with optical labs provides a streamlined workflow that DPO cannot replicate. If a business is selling *anything* other than prescription eyewear, however, DPO Dynamic Product Options is the better solution to increase product customization.
Merchants should consider the number of reviews as a proxy for the app's maturity and widespread adoption. DPO Dynamic Product Options' larger user base could indicate a more refined and stable product. However, if the merchant needs to sell eyewear, LensAdvisor, despite having fewer reviews, is the superior option, based on its specialization in the prescription lenses niche.
Common Questions
Can DPO Dynamic Product Options handle prescription information for eyewear?
While DPO allows for highly customized product options, it is not designed specifically for handling prescription data. It lacks features like PD measurement tools or integration with optical labs, making it unsuitable for prescription eyewear sales.
Does LensAdvisor: Prescription Lens support selling products besides eyewear?
LensAdvisor's feature set is geared exclusively towards selling prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. It lacks the versatility to handle other product categories with general customization needs.
Which app is easier to use for a beginner?
Without direct user experience data, it's difficult to definitively say. LensAdvisor, despite being niche-focused, might have a steeper learning curve for new users due to prescription-specific workflows, however, for eyewear businesses it's designed for this target audience specifically. DPO's general applicability may require more initial configuration to achieve the desired product customization result.
Which app is better for increasing average order value?
Both apps can potentially increase average order value. LensAdvisor explicitly aims to drive upsells through lens options and add-ons, providing a direct mechanism for increasing the value of each order. DPO can also lead to higher average order values by allowing customers to add more personalized options, although this isn't its primary focus.
Are there any upfront costs associated with the partner optical labs suggested by LensAdvisor?
The provided information does not specify whether there are upfront costs or commissions associated with using LensAdvisor's partner optical labs. Merchants should contact LensAdvisor directly for details on those potential costs.
