DPO Dynamic Product Options vs PriceMate – Make An Offerfor Shopify (2026)
DPO Dynamic Product Options (DPO) and PriceMate – Make An Offer address pricing on Shopify, but they do so in fundamentally different ways. DPO, given its name and lack of information, likely focuses on enhancing product listings with customizable options, sizes, colors, materials etc. PriceMate, on the other hand, is explicitly designed to enable a 'Make an Offer' functionality, allowing customers to negotiate prices. This difference in core function dictates their suitability for different types of merchants. PriceMate is ideal for businesses selling unique or high-value items where negotiation is common, or those looking to experiment with dynamic pricing strategies. The primary difference lies in their approach to pricing flexibility. DPO modifies the product itself, enabling more variants and possibly impacting the base price. PriceMate adds a negotiation layer on top of existing pricing. While PriceMate has 24/7 post-installation support, we lack specific details on DPO's support model. However, the significant difference in review count suggests DPO is a more established app with a larger user base, indicating wider adoption and potentially more community support and resources even in 2026.

Our Verdict
If your store requires a wide range of product options and variations to cater to customer choices (e.g., clothing with sizes, colors, materials), DPO Dynamic Product Options is likely the better choice, assuming it has the functionality described. Its high rating and substantial number of reviews suggest a well-regarded and potentially feature-rich app, though without more detail, this is only based on inference from the name.
For stores selling art, antiques, or other unique items where negotiation is acceptable or desirable, PriceMate – Make An Offer is a more direct fit. It's important to consider the low review count of PriceMate, which may indicate a newer app or limited adoption, and should be carefully assessed before a merchant commits to it to test if the specific functionalities are fit for their needs.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Without direct experience, it's difficult to say. However, PriceMate's focus on a specific functionality (making offers) suggests it might be simpler to set up than DPO, which, inferring from the name, likely has a steeper learning curve due to a wider array of customization options.
Which app will likely result in a higher average order value?
Potentially PriceMate, as it allows customers to propose their desired price, which, if accepted or countered favorably, could lead to sales that wouldn't have happened otherwise. However, this depends heavily on the merchant's negotiation strategy.
Which app is better for a high-volume store with standardized products?
Neither app appears ideally suited. DPO *might* be useful if the products have variations, but PriceMate's negotiation focus is likely inefficient for high-volume, standardized sales. A different pricing or product options strategy would be more appropriate.
Does PriceMate handle international currencies?
Yes, PriceMate offers multi-currency support for global reach, increasing the chance to get more offers.
What type of products does PriceMate work best with?
PriceMate is best suited for products where negotiation is a common practice or is often welcomed, such as unique, high-value, or vintage items. Products with already tight margins or those typically sold at fixed prices may not be a good fit.
